It’s easy to keep your stainless steel appliances spotless!

In a previous blog post we talked about how stainless steel kitchen appliances are a timeless choice. Not only do they fit in with any kitchen style, they’re also easy to maintain, cleaner, and safer. If you took our advice and bought stainless steel kitchen appliances, then you are enjoying timeless style and low maintenance. However, low maintenance doesn’t mean no maintenance. Here are a few tips on how to easily clean your stainless steel kitchen appliances.

Just some water and a dry cloth are all you really need to clean stainless steel. We told you cleaning would be easy! Simply wipe a damp cloth over the surface of your kitchen appliance to pick up any dirt, then wipe a dry cloth in the direction of the polish. Make sure that you get all the water, though; the minerals in beads of water that are left to dry on stainless steel can leave marks. Microfiber cleaning cloths are especially great for avoiding this problem because they absorb water well and won’t leave any scratches.

Dish Soap

If you need a little more cleaning power, a drop of mild dish soap on your damp cloth will work well to remove food debris. Simply add a small drop of dish soap to your cloth, rub it to create some soap suds, wipe down your appliance, rinse with clean water, then dry completely to avoid leaving water marks.

Glass Cleaner

Glass cleaner applied to a microfiber cloth can easily remove fingerprints from stainless steel. Simply wipe in a circular motion to remove fingerprints, rinse, then dry completely. There are some types of finishes for stainless steel that resist fingerprints. You can look into these if you have small children who love to leave fingerprints on everything!

Stainless Steel Cleaner

If you have heavy-duty stains, surface scratches, or a dull surface, you can use a special stainless steel cleaner and polish to bring a gleaming luminescence back to your kitchen appliances. Some cleaners and polishes even minimize scratches and remove stains. Be sure to test your stainless steel cleaner and polisher in a corner before cleaning the entire appliance!
