What to Know Before Purchasing a Wine Cooler
Everyone loves wine. Even if you’re not a connoisseur, you probably still enjoy a few sips in the evening after dinner on occasion to relax and wind down from your day. However, you might find that somehow you’ve managed to stock up a huge variety of bottles in your home. Maybe some are hidden away in cabinets, others scattered around your home bar, and still more are clogging up your refrigerator. If this sounds like you, it might be time to invest in a wine cooler.
Things to Consider Before Purchasing Your Wine Cooler
You of course want a wine cooler that is attractive and will look great in your kitchen or bar area, but what else should you be looking for?
- Temperature options
It’s important to keep your wine at a stable temperature or else risk it drying out and having the taste negatively impacted. Wine is particularly sensitive to light, temperature, and humidity. Your kitchen refrigerator is too cold and not humid enough to keep your wine at the ideal and constant temperature to make it last for a long period of time and keep it tasting fresh.
- Size and space
How many bottles of wine do you currently own? How many do you want to own? Wine coolers are available in a variety of sizes, from those that can hold 34 bottles of wine to those that can hold up to 88! Measure the space you plan to keep your new wine cooler ahead of time so you’ll know what size you can comfortably fit into your home.
- Humidity control
Humidity is key in keeping your wine tasting its best, even after pulling it out of long-term storage. You should be looking for humidity levels between 50 and 70 percent to ensure the longevity of your bottles.
Aesthetics are also important, even if they’re not the most important piece when choosing a new wine cooler. Do you prefer fancy wooden racks or classy stainless steel racks? It’s all up to your own personal preference and your budget!
